Witch Hazel Toner for Acne Breakouts

Witch hazel has been used as a natural remedy for centuries. Native Americans were the first to derive witch hazel from the leaves and bark of the witch hazel plant. The primary benefits of witch hazel include its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and healing properties.

Witch hazel is a cheap and natural way to help treat and prevent acne breakouts. Witch hazel can be purchased in pure form at nearly any drug or grocery store. Sometimes it is combined with other healing ingredients, like rose water and aloe vera. Not only does witch hazel help get rid of acne causing bacteria, but it also helps tighten pores and improve tone and texture of the skin.

To use witch hazel as a toner or astringent simply apply with a clean cotton round all over the face, paying close attention to breakout prone areas. Allow it to dry completely before applying any moisturizer.

You can also use witch hazel as a spot treatment by pulling off small pieces of cotton and soaking them in the witch hazel and apply directly to a pimple. Allow it to sit on the pimple until it dries and then repeat as often as needed. Another option is to soak a hot washcloth in witch hazel and place it over your face for 5-10 minutes. This will help clear and tighten your pores!
